When analyzed in its entirety, without data filtering, in-line inspection (ILI) is the most effective means of assessing the integrity of a pipeline.  A single ILI run provides a vendor snapshot of the current condition of the line.  Comparison to previous ILI runs provides an indication of where change has occurred.  But more importantly, integration with previously excavated locations provides an accurate list of critical anomalies that still require remediation. In addition, integration with previously excavated sites and their NDE measured data provides capability for the assessment of the accuracy of the tool’s performance and a foundation for measurement of change.
